shville Emerging Leaders (NEL) was founded in 2002 by a cadre of motivated and passionate young professionals to create an organization dedicated to the ongoing development, advancement and interaction of emerging leaders in our community. MSG has partnered with NEL since its inception, facilitating each of the interactive sessions in the series. NEL enables young leaders to learn from mentors and peers by engaging themselves in the Nashville community, exploring issues impacting our city, and collectively possessing a powerful voice to promote change.
MISSION
To encourage and promote emerging leaders to impact Nashville.
VISION
Regarded as the premier organization dedicated to developing and molding the young emergent leaders in the Nashville community. Serving as a catalyst to congregate, engage and advance future leaders through personal development, mentorship, and access to senior leadership.
Recognized for our passion of learning and community stewardship, NEL’s resources, energies and skills are focused in building the foundation of leaders to forge the Nashville of tomorrow.
PROGRAMMING
Through a series of sessions involving leadership skills, training modules, community issue exploration and group projects, NEL members will advance their proficiency and personal understanding of Nashville’s underlying dynamics. Programming will include:
• Training and skill-based learning
• Issue exploration
• Community event participation
• Exposure to senior leaders in our community
These sessions will engage senior leaders in our community from which participants will learn in addition to interaction and networking with classmates. The NEL curriculum provides participants an opportunity to truly glean a better understanding of their motivation, styles and attitudes all of which impact their leadership capabilities. Through proven assessments and interactive exercises, each class member gains perspective not only about themselves but how to effectively communicate and motivate others.
MEMBERSHIP PROFILE
An emerging leader as defined for NEL purposes is an individual who has demonstrated the desire and capacity to provide the vision and stewardship necessary to advance, inspire, and lead others in some dimension of their civic or professional life. NEL strives to attain diversity in the composition of each class, seeks for individuals who are committed to the Middle Tennessee community and are willing to attend and participate fully in NEL’s program.
